The Mirror

As my hand caressed her face
down softly to her neck,
an elevation I saw
becoming nothing at all.
In the gentleness,
once seeing red from all
the thoughts kept deep within,
are now forcing their way
to the surface
as her tears released them.
She will be free once more,
as I save her from herself.
She calmly looks into my eyes,
as I see myself in the mirror.
